Meta Is Turning On Product Browsing for Existing Ads on 28 October. Should You Opt Out?
Meta will change where some of your ads send people, by default. For catalogue brands that can help; for lead generation and single-offer pages it can send traffic somewhere you never chose.

What is changing
Advertisers report notices from Meta saying product browsing will be turned on for existing ads from 28 October 2026 unless they opt out. Product browsing is part of Meta's personalised destination features in Advantage+ creative: instead of always sending a person to the landing page you chose, Meta can show product browsing experiences or send them to pages it predicts they will engage with. At the time of writing, Meta had not published a Help Center article or changelog entry for the change, so treat the details as reported and confirm in your own Ads Manager.
Who it may help
E-commerce brands with large catalogues and good product feeds may benefit: people who would bounce from a single product page might browse related products instead. If your catalogue, prices and stock are accurate and your product pages are strong, test it rather than opting out by reflex. See e-commerce and marketplace growth.
Who it may hurt
Lead generation advertisers whose landing page is built to qualify and convert one offer. Sending traffic elsewhere bypasses the qualifying questions and page you tested. Regulated categories such as healthcare, finance and property, where the exact landing page and its disclosures matter. And brands running offer-specific campaigns where the promotion only exists on one page. See landing page conversion.
How to opt out
As reported: for an entire business portfolio, use the opt-out link in Meta's notice before 28 October. For individual ads, open the ad, go to Advantage+ creative enhancements, find personalised destinations, and turn off product browsing; optimise website destination can be turned off there too. After 28 October, recheck new and duplicated ads, because defaults can reappear when ads are copied.
A sensible approach
Opt out on lead generation, regulated and single-offer campaigns. For catalogue campaigns, split test: keep product browsing on in one ad set and off in another for two to three weeks, and compare contribution margin, not just reported ROAS. Meta automation keeps expanding by default; a monthly check of creative enhancement settings is now part of running an account properly.
